很
Meaning
- very; quite
- (also, often used before an adjective without intensifying its meaning, i.e. as a meaningless syntactic element)
Example sentence
我很想你。
I miss you.
The character 很
很 sits in front of an adjective as grammar rather than emphasis: 他很高 says simply that he is tall, because 他高 on its own sounds like the start of a comparison. When you really do mean very, the stress carries it.
