就
Meaning
- (after a suppositional clause) in that case; then
- (after a clause of action) as soon as; immediately after
- (same as 就是) merely; nothing else but; simply; just; precisely; exactly
How it's used
Sooner, sooner than expected, or immediately following. 他六点就来了 — he came at six, and that's early. It also links a condition to its result: 如果下雨，我就不去. Contrast 才, which says something happened later than expected.
