因为
Meaning
- because; owing to; on account of
How it's used
"Because". Mandarin normally keeps both halves — 因为下雨，所以我没去 — where English drops one and says "because it rained, I didn't go". Keeping 所以 is not a mistake and sounds more natural than leaving it out.
